The SAT Badge Project
An INDIGO Initiative
A central task for The SINTEF Industry Solution Architect Team (SAT), is to supervise and facilitate proper governance of our in-house code frameworks. Conducting best practices in our GitLab groups and projects is an essential part of software development.
The SAT Badge provides a self-managed and automated overview of SINTEF Industry software frameworks. By enrolling in the SAT Badge program, projects are listed in the overview and earn a badge that reflects their adherence to best practice standards.
Practical Guidelines
Fulfilling the critera given should contribute to well documented and maintainable code accessible to more than just one single developer.
The badge can also provide a guideline on how to apply the available features of gitlab.sintef.no.
Culture Building
The goal is to build a culture of proper governance, collaboration and sharing of code in SINTEF Industry.
Quality Assurance
Code frameworks are an important part of our research infrastructure, similar to physical lab equipment - and should be treated as such.
Maintaining well-structured code frameworks is therefore an important part of the research data management in the institute.
